If you’ve noticed a few changes around the site recently, you’re right! I’m moving with the times and adding new photos, moving elements around, and generally spiffing up the place. Thanks goes to my “tight circle” of friends and colleagues for their input and feedback… hope you enjoy the refresh!

Is it too late to wish you a Happy New Year? Blame it on the constant firehose of things happening here at the studio—hardware and software upgrades; projects beginning and being finished; and the ultra-glamorous day-to-day life of a Hollywood composer (which is code for errands, chores, and laundry).
So far 2026 hasn’t been a banner year in the world at large. But I haven’t given up on it yet. I’m hoping for wonderful things in the months ahead, for myself and for all of you. Stay tuned.
CUE OF THE MOMENT
Here’s another cue from The Amazing Race. This one’s from Cycle 11 (2007), but has been used extensively in the years since… to the point that it’s one of the more recognizable cues of the whole show. Originally written as Show Open, Part 4, it’s become known as the music that often plays when the race starts—immediately after Phil tells teams to “Go!”
The creative brief was to make something intense, but that also felt like the beginning of something epic. Not a headlong sprint to a finish line, in other words; more like the initial burst of energy out of the gate before teams settle into the rhythm of flights, taxi rides, wilderness treks, and who knows what else awaits them as they compete for the million-dollar prize.
I think it holds up pretty well, musically and in terms of the overall arrangement and mix… especially for a piece that’s nearly twenty years old. Everyone seems to have liked it well enough, anyway, as it’s been brought back for multiple encores over the years. Enjoy!—LHS
